Applying & Accepting Your Award

How to ApplyFlags
Apply for financial aid each academic year by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).The earliest you may file the FAFSA is January 1 prior to the academic year for which you plan to attend WSU. Use the WSU Law School federal school code, E00435, on the FAFSA.

The Verification Process
If your application was selected for verification, the Law School Financial Aid Office will ask you to provide additional information to document the accuracy of the data reported on your FAFSA, including a verification worksheet and a copy of your federal tax return (and your spouse’s federal tax return, if you are married).

Notification/Acceptance of Your Award
The WSU Law School Office of Student Financial Aid uses the WSU e-mail system to notify students of any outstanding requirements and award offers. All students should activate their WSU e-mail as soon as they receive their access ID from the Admissions Office.

Sign Up for Text Messaging

You may sign up to receive text messages from the Financial Aid Office on your cell phone. The WSU Broadcast Messaging Service will also deliver emergency notifications and other university messages. Sign up and set your preferences on Pipeline under the "My Pipeline" tab, under WSU Resources, select Broadcast Messaging. See computing.wayne.edu/messaging for more information.

Receiving Your Award
All financial aid funds, except for work-study awards, are credited to your student tuition account to pay for your tuition and fees. Excess aid is refunded to you to use for your other educational expenses.

International Students
There are scholarships and fellowships awarded through the Law School that do not include citizenship or permanent resident status as a criterion.

Consortium Agreements
If you are interested in attending another law school as a guest student, you may be able to receive financial aid through Wayne State University under a consortium agreement.
